A healthy dose of fear give you the motivation you need to achieve things you otherwise wouldn’t. But when too much of it. When it’s in control, you become full of self-doubt and choose comfort over challenge.
Fear can be simply triggered by things that feel different. It might tell us to exclude people who don’t share our views and values. This can work to maintain societal divides. We also instinctively change-averse, even when change might be better. Fear tries to protect us from risks, favouring predictability over an unknown future.
